3DSuit provides a revolutionary approach to motion capture that allows you to capture movements in virtually any location at any time. By making use of inertial sensor technology, animators are no longer jailed to the use of high-dollar optical systems that provide a few square meters of working space. Inertial sensors make use of the earth references of gravity and magnetic field which are present everywhere allowing for usage in the studio or on location. By mounting sensors to all of the major body segments and measuring these earth references it is possible to understand the orientation of each segment and then translate this to movements of the skeleton of a given character. As an added advantage, because of the lack of reliance on visible feedback at all there is no such thing as occlusion when using 3DSuit. At no moment will there ever be a loss of knowledge of where a sensor may be. Additionally, with the release of Innalabs SimpleView capturing software, Innalabs has eliminated problems of «foot sliding» that are found to be issues with inertial based tracking systems. Captures taken from 3DSuit are in a ready-to-use state immediately after completion with little to no editing required. Through Innalabs SimpleView software the character animations are captured in real-time and then converted to FBX in order to insert the results into the animation package of choice for further editing and scene completion. Additionally, SimpleView provides a means to watch captures as they are being performed along with play back tools that allow users to check the results prior to editing. As an additional option, SimpleView allows for the utilization of an external positioning system to work in conjunction with 3DSuit to eliminate position drift that occurs with any inertial based positioning system.
